 On June 12 and 14, 2003, the RV Akademik Mstislav Keldysh (Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Moscow) visited the MAR, and two double dives were made in the area of Charlie Gibbs Fracture Zone with the manned submersibles Mir1 and Mir2. During descent of the submersibles, plankton were observed, identified, sized and counted from 170 m to bottom depth. Results from zooplankton observations during a dive with Mir1 to 4361 m depth (52°47' N; 34°46' W) are presented in a preliminary report, written by G.M. Vinogradov. |
