Anne Stene (Aalesund University College, Norway) and Tone Falkenhaug (Institute of Marine Research, Norway), visited colleagues at the P.P.Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, 30 March - 4 April 2005. The purpose of the visit was to bring MAR-ECO zooplankton samples to Moscow, and to discuss further collaborative work on MAR-ECO zooplankton and ichthyoplankton material. The final sorting and identification work on mesozooplankton (Multinet samples) will be made by Russian zooplanktologists, with taxonomic expertise on different zooplankton groups. The aim is to provide as complete species lists as possible, in addition to data on developmental stages of crustaceans, abundances and biomass estimates. Preliminary results on mesozooplankton will be presented at the MAR-ECO field phase workshop in Lisbon, 3-4 June 2005. The analysis work is funded by the Nordic Council.
