Ørnulf Opdahl, the Norwegian landscape artist who participated in the research cruise summer 2004 attended. Some of his paintings, inspired by the experience, form part of the exhibition. In addition, Opdahl has recently published a book featuring work inspired by his deep sea experiences. Anne Berg Edvardsen, a young sculptor has also been inspired by the MAR-ECO findings also attended the opening.
A "Public Day" is planned for Sunday 27 January. The day will include presentations by the projects leaders, researchers and a jazz concert by musicians inspired by the MAR-ECO experience. see programme for the day's activities
