This was our first day on our testcruise and we have brought a lot of new equipment and software. Our schedule before departure was packed with meetings with people on land. Luckily the departure was postponed to 1800 hour’s, 3 hour’s later then first planned.

For the Data management and sampling group it was important to get started early with the routines for biological sampling and data-flow.  A pelagic trawl is scheduled at 0500 hour’s tomorrow.

Today we also looked at:

• The ships reference system and how this can be implemented in a overall metadata system.
• File handling, backup, synchronisation with land and a predefined folder structure.
• On-board information system
• Training and information on cruise

Tomorrows expected highlights

• Try to enable a work path for converting multi-beam data to a GIS friendly file format
• Test out the sampling software updates.
• Try out our new labelling system for tracking biological samples.
• Try out our system to connect images to samples.
• If the new antenna is active. Then the "ship to shore" information system will be tested.
